Leak Sealer For Swimming Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs Fix A Leak 32oz. made by Marlig FAL32
FIX-A-LEAK is a concentrated blend specifically formulated to seal leaks in a wide range of materials, suitable for both shell and plumbing leaks. Effective for holes as small as 1/8′ in diameter, it creates a durable, long-lasting seal. Application is recommended at a rate of 1 quart per pool of up to 22,000 gallons, with a caution not to exceed 1 quart per 5,000 gallons of water.Aside from its leak-sealing properties, FIX-A-LEAK serves as an excellent preventive maintenance solution. Upon contact with surfaces, it forms a coating that reduces the occurrence of rust and corrosion. It is important to note that Marlig Industries and its Agents do not assume responsibility for the material’s performance.
For swimming pool return line repairs using MARLIG Fix-A-Leak, follow these instructions:
- Shake the product well before use.
- Bypass FILTER MEDIA before adding FIX-A-LEAK to water. For sand filters, set the valve to recirculate; for other types, remove cartridges or DE elements from the filter tank.
- With the pump running, slowly add FIX-A-LEAK through the skimmer or any suction intake.
- Adjust suction to the main drain, and if not possible, use a vacuum cleaner in the deepest part of the pool.
- FIX-A-LEAK tends to sink, so manually stir it back into suspension every 4-6 hours during water circulation.
- Continue circulating water until the leak stops.
- Mark the water level in the pool and monitor for 2-3 days to ensure the leak has stopped.
- After the leak stops and cures (24-48 hrs.), return to normal filtration.
For suction side repairs:
- Shake FIX-A-LEAK well before use.
- Suction leaks are often identified by air mixed with water at return fittings.
- Reverse the water flow by using a submersible pump and a drum or large garbage pail.
- Disconnect the problem skimmer or drain line at the pool pump and create a closed loop with temporary plumbing.
- Fill the drum with water, add FIX-A-LEAK, and circulate for 4-6 hours or until the leak stops.
- Allow at least 72 hours of cure time before returning to normal operation.
For simplified homeowner suction side repairs:
- Immerse the FIX-A-LEAK bottle in hot water for 10-15 minutes and shake well.
- Pour a portion of the product into the skimmer with the pump off, then turn the pump on for two seconds to move the product into the line.
- With the pump off, add the remaining FIX-A-LEAK into the skimmer and let it sit for three days.
- Ensure the line is filled with water, as FIX-A-LEAK hardens when exposed to air. This method is most effective for leaks on the bottom portion of the line and usually succeeds about 70% of the time.
